POETICA MAGICA
„was war“ // written by Maja Haderlap, published by Wallenstein Verlag 2014 The „poetica magica“, a project of the Literaturhaus Vorarlberg, is dedicated to poetry and the art of visualizing it. The Literaturhaus believes in the transformative power of the lyrical word and that of artistic visualization. Furthermore, with this project we wanted to create unique sonic experiences and celebrates the cultural heritage of Europe's multilingualism. That's why the digital channels of the Literaturhaus Vorarlberg and its project partners (e.g. Frankfurt Book Fair) are now being transformed into cinema halls and opening up a new, sustainable stage for European poetry. For this project, illustrators interpret selected lyrical texts and create impressive poetry clips in various aesthetic styles: from visual poetry to animation. The guest country of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023, Slovenia, and the central role of Slovenian-language literature in Austria are inspiring „poetica magica“ to collaborate with Slovenian-speaking authors and German-speaking illustrators this year.
